Can't find how much is the street parking in downtown Houston. They changed to the new meter, but I can't find the rate online. At least they should list a range of rate for street parking.

I think it is different depending what street you are on, again, I said I think. But a few months ago it was a little over a $1 an hour ($1.25 an hour I think) in midtown near Sweet Lola's on West Grey. But last week I went to Ben's Bean's and a block away (Polk or Clay Street) it was $.75 for an hour. I am thinking $1.25 an hour on most streets, but I can't be sure of it since I live downtown and walk everywhere usually.

This is pretty much spot on.

downtown by the skyline district is $1.50 per hour with a max of 2 hour... You can stay longer if you go back and buy another ticket on the machine for another $3 / 2 hrs

Actually you might want to move your vehicle as there is a two hour max. Even if you buy another two hours, they can still ticket you. I think you have to move to another block even after two hours. Maybe they don't enforce that though. (In other cities you still see them put a chalk line on peoples wheels to see if they moved)

I thought it's something like $1.25 per 15 mins.. The parking in downtown is not convenient, I don't know if I can get a parking place when I come there. Don't know why companies still be there instead of moving to a better place.

They're probably waiting for a better public transportation system. Whiche may or may not come.

$382 if you park in a tow-away zone... and $70 each time you park in a no parking zone... I swear they need to make those signs more visible.

Because it's centralized. It would be really inconvenient if companies started moving to The Woodlands or Sugar Land. The parking might be free there but the gas/time to get there definitely won't be free. You can't expect everything to be free and convenient in a city this big.
