I recently got my first speeding ticket (going 50 mph on a 45 mph) He wrote 40 but I was literally 2 seconds from merging onto the freeway on 45 and Telephone so I'm sure the speed limit wasn't 40 but 45.
Anyway, he wrote on it that I had no insurance because my mom forgot to give me the copy of the insurance card so I did have insurance at the time of the incident but not proof of it. (Just my luck huh?)

The thing here is that I don't know how to go about it. Court is Lubbock and the officer is GariBay, H
I have some people telling me to get a lawyer. That'll it'll be 10x easier this way.
Then I have others who advice me to plead not guilty by mail (avoid going to court) and hope the officer doesn't show to the jury trial.
Thoughts? Advice?

I'd recommend going to court and taking defensive driving on the speeding ticket. You just pay court costs, the ticket is dismissed if you complete defensive driving and you get a discount on your insurance.

Use Sprecher if you go the lawyer route. The officers usually show now. Back in the day they rarely did.

Agree with David Sprecher for lawyer if going that way. But you won't necessarily be represented by Sprecher in court. More than likely it will be one of his associates.

3rd vote for David Sprecher. You can also ask for deferred adjudication but this means you have to may a fine and stay out of trouble for that legnth of time.

Do you have "The Ticket Clinic" type of services where you live? They easily get you out of having to appear in court, go to driving school and even the points (which raise your insurance rates from the ticket). The amount you pay for the service is usually even cheaper than if you have to pay for the ticket!
