hello everyone I just got a speeding ticket yesterday for 2 violations:
1. speeding ticket: When I was driving on I-10 and federal an HPD cop pulled me and another motorist over at the same time and accused me of playing tag with the other motorist. i did not now the other motorist and i had my cruise control on 70 so i know for sure i was not going 85. also, the officer was moving and then quickly pull up to give the the ticket. how did he know i was going 85 if he did not use his radar gun to clock my speed. i don't mind getting the ticket for going 70 over 60 speed limit and just take the defensive driving but since he wrote 85 over 60 i am not eligible. did he purposely overinflate my speed in order to deny me the right for defensive driving.
2. lack of insurance:when i was reaching for my proof of insurance the cop made a comment " do you always place your driver's license in your glove compartment?" that comment threw me off and I grabbed the wrong insurance documentation to give to him. when the officer returned to my car and i handed him my proof of insurance he rejected it and gave me the ticket for failure to establish financial responsiblity and told me to bring it to court.

how do i deal with violation #1 and #2? if i plea not guilty and show up to court do i have a chance of reduce the speeding ticket from going 85 to going 70 on 60 mgh speed limit? do i have to show up to court to show my proof of insurance to get violation #2 dismissed or can i just mail it to them? i am not trying to get out of tickets but just to make sure i'm being ticketed fairly. plus the officer was not in a good mood that day so it didn't help either lol any input is greatly appreciated

david

Houston Traffic Tickets 101: Fighting Citations in Municipal Court - Houston Page One | Examiner.com

Chances are there will be far worse offenses in comparison to your 15 over.

This method got me out of a cracked windshield and blowing a red light.

Contact attorney Lance Smith, or one of the dozen others who specialize in local traffic tickets.

Lance charges about $80 to handle HPD tickets.

if i do go with a lawyer, do i contact the lawyer first and then send in the reply for plea of not guilty? i still have to show up to court listed on the ticket even if i use the lawyer, right? when i send in reply of plea of not guilty, should choose trial by judge or trial by jury? thanks in advance

Contact your lawyer first. Have him/her answer all these questions.

thanks just called Sprecher office and he charges 200 for speeding ticket since it's 25 mph over, and 20 for the liability insurance violation. sounds a lil steep here. are there other lawyers that do it for less? thanks in advance

Doubled76, pull your head out of your rear. I gave you a recommendation above. Contact Lance Smith. He will do it for less and he has 20+ years experience. You simply send him a copy of the ticket, with your fee payment, and he will take it from there. You do not have to appear in court, or even communicate with the court, until you receive your notice of your court date from Lance.
