We have recently relocated to Houston....we are probably going to move in the Stafford/Miss City/Pearland area. I have found that Houston has several "spraygrounds" as part of it's parks system. Other cities I have lived in don't have these--or if they do they are at the local Mall forcing you to shop to beat the heat. It's pretty nice that Houston has built them as part of the free parks system for everyone to enjoy during this really hot weather. We visited the one at Hermann Park and it was pretty nice.

Can anyone suggest the best spraygrounds out there? My son is 7 and LOVES the water.

Thanks!

Discovery Green has a splash park. The best (imo) is at the YMCA in West U/Bellaire, but that's not free

If you move to Pearland, there are several nice ones in the Silverlake area.

I've been making it a point to take my family to as many spraygrounds as we can this summer. In the past couple of weeks we have visited 4.

The one at Hackberry Park is beautiful - they have a good number of sprays, a beautiful park, and the water drains into a lake that is adjacent to the sprayground. They even have ducks!

The ones at Wiley Park and Dodson Lake are nice, but there are some homeless people staying there. The one at Dodson Lake especially had one homeless person with two dogs running around without leashes and the sprayground was pretty dirty, so I would skip those.

The one at Ervan Chew Park is very nice and clean, also there is a nice playground in the shade which is great for us.

Here is the link for the city sites if you need along with a link to the maps for the sites. They can be organized so much better, but if you haven't learned yet, the city's website is just terrible!
