Houston can't afford another natural disaster like that!

Ed Emmett was on the news last night saying that they would not be allowing New Orleans to evacuate to Houston...

He was PC and said it was not b/c of the people who commit so many crimes, but rather that it did not make sense to evacuate one hurricane prone area into another...they are now evacuating inland.

How do you stop people from driving west on I-10? I don't think it's necessary but I'm just wondering how you "not allow" evacuees to enter the city.

Well, my son works over there in Morgan City and he'll head to my place, as necessary.

Obviously, you can't stop people. But what local govts should do is advise residents the best place to evacuate to (Dallas-lol). Not another hurricane prone area.

I think SouthernBoy should open his place up for them. Is there a law against going East instead of West?

They won't stop them - just will not provide for them.

With so much arguing about what to do with Astrodome. Why don't they come to the Astrodome in exchange of rehabilitating the building?

As noted, any private citizen driving their own transportation can go wherever they want. They are referring to all those people tax payers had to fund to bus them out of the city.

Keep in mind this is not a high category like Katrina ended up being (Cat 5 but by the landfall it was a Cat 3). Also what messed up New Orleans wasn't the storm as much as the levees that didn't hold and flooded the city after the storm had passed. It's not a bad idea to have all yes on this great American city and see their progress since 2005. We can also test out Brad Pitt's sustainable housing fairs with high winds.
