So who has the best sprinkler brand?

Rainbird? Toro? Hunter? Irritrol? I am new to all of these companies so I dont have a clue who to avoid or wish for.

any help is welcomed.

They're all pretty much comparable, although I'd steer clear of Hunter.

Default Depends...

Having owned four homes and installing three of the systems over the past 25 years, I'd say Rainbird products last longer. But the other parts work just as well, but fail sooner. By fail, I mean leaking water, or not rotating. Sprinklers should not leak water at the head, though most people's systems do, and people think it is normal... it is not, and wastes lots of water.

Anyway, the other brands are cheap enough that they can be replaced as needed. So six of one, half dozen the other. Looking at it from a maintenance point of view, I think Rainbird lasts longer.

Our Rainbird system is about 10 yrs old and I have yet to have any sprinkler plumbing problems not caused by something external like a lawn mower hitting an above ground spray head. I did replace the electronic controller box that quit a few years ago though.

Rainbird is what most professional sprinkler companies use.

Curious which type is better, the kind that spray mist or the kind that shoots water out?

It depends on the area of your lawn and how far that zone needs to broadcast the water.
