Been going to 24 for almost 12 years. Got into LA fitness a couple weeks ago...night and day difference. Machines are kept up, are much newer, interior design and lighting creates an atmosphere where I actually enjoy going to the gym...best of all, tons of weight benches leaving me little to no waiting time. Oh...bathrooms are really nice too. Nothing like the spartan interiors of 24. I couldn't be happier.

I use the 24hr fitness downtown @ Elgin & Louisianna, 45 bucks a month but I have to go super early in the morning (5:30AM) or its really crowded.

Only 2 squat racks, and I think 2 or 3 flat benchpresses annoys the hell out of me having to wait 20 minutes to use a bench because someone is doing lunges on the benchpress or some asshat is using the squatrack to do curls.

Has tons of cardio machines on the 1st floor though and alot of different classes and stuff. All I go for is the free weights though anyone know a better gym in the downtown area for that price or less that would be better suited to me?

If you plan to use a trainer, One2One on Richmond is a great gym.

I just became a member of Fitness Connection in Missouri City, as it is by far the best gym in Sugar Land/MO City.

The LA is good, kinda small compared to the FC which is huge and the 24 off 59 is absolute garbage.

These are the three closest gyms to me and even though I wanted a membership at LT Fitness at CC, I couldn't justify 102$ a month.

At FC, I paid 129$, which was their special initiation fee (200 something I think is the regular price) and its' just 9.95$ a month. The long-run savings are worth the higher start up fee. And that gives me access to any of their gyms.

my buddy used to work at la fitness in mo city and he told me they lost 4,000 people to the new fitness connection down the street. i really think they intentionally built that gym down the street to destroy la fitness. the fitness connection is a lot larger from what he told me. i think that use to be a krogers or heb, some kind of grocery store before it closed. lifetime fitness city centre actually cost more now. its $130 a month for a new person to join.
