Hello, My family and I are considering moving to the Houston area. After following the threads for the last couple of weeks I'm between Pearland,Cypress and Sugarland. My job will be located in Dearfield. I have a one year old boy and I plan on moving in the next year or two. Im just trying to find out which area would be best for the commute to work, school districts and being at a descent distance to a med center? Also if some apartments can be suggested that would be great

I'm a recent Buffalo transplant, myself. Like Oildog, I recommend Pearland based on proximity. From Sugarland or Cypress, you would be spending too much of you life in traffic. (BTW, there are no wings here that compare to Duffs, but the Mexican food is a great improvement over the selection in Buffalo--it's a trade-off.)

Roll call... another former Buffalonian here! Been here almost three years now.

I live in Cypress, which is a great area with good schools, but I agree that a commute to Deer Park would be absolute hell. That's an hour without traffic. Here is an indication of the scale of Houston relative to Buffalo: Driving from Cypress to Deer Park is the same as driving from downtown Buffalo to Batavia, NY (about 40 miles).

Sugar Land would be almost as bad. Pearland is the best choice.

Thanks, that really put the commute into prospective. Thats a big change because you can get anywhere in Buffalo in 20mins in a car .
Thanks for all the input everybody. I really appreciate it.

I forgot to mention that you might look into Friendswood as well. I think the schools there are considered as good as or even a bit better than the schools in pearland.
