Has anyone noticed anything similar near the Upper Kirby area?

A bloke, calls himself Tony approached me at the Exxon Mobil gas station on Westheimer and offered to remove a dent on my car for $200. A search on google shows this:

Tony the Gypsy Dent Repair Removal Scammer - Dent Repair Removal Parking Lot Scammer

4 similar incidents in the last 2 months.

This scam dates back much further than the stories documented in the link above. A couple of guys attempted to pull this on me about 10 years ago at the gas station at Westheimer and Chimney Rock.

Don't buy any speakers or audio equipment from some shady characters in a white van either.

I read a similar report in the Chron with similar people scamming an old woman for a few grand. I hope someone can get the license plate number if they encounter these guys.

Why would you do a business with a "some guy" approaching you at the gas station, and give him $200??

His garage? His "business" must be really bad if he approaches people at the gas stations. Just that alone would make me wonder about the quality of his work...

I think, Scammers have this talent and charm that makes us do or invest on things we don't usually have the guts to do. They show us how they can be very trustworthy.
What we should keep in mind is that it's okay to be doubtful and investigate first before doing business with anyone especially those whom you don't know.
I also should warn you about a scam artist that's involved in an online property deal. Robert Bonaccolta have stolen $300,000 from an overseas investor. We should tell our loved ones about scam alerts like these.
