I was driving around downtown Houston yesterday and parts of midtown and for a couple of minutes there, I felt like I was in Chicago. There was one part of downtown that looks like it's semi-developed for living. You guys probably know the area I'm talking about. There is some street level retail there, some bars, some restaurants, some coffee shops, etc. Not a lot, but enough to make me happy. More importantly, it's walkable and urban. There are some large loft developments there now but I could envision a lot more being done there. Am I crazy?

I think you are thinking of the 4th ward area just south east of downtown west of Louisiana and north of West gray. That area is really interesting.

Actually, I need to check that area out as well. I was referring to the area north and west of Prairie. Those 4 blocks right after.

Downtown and Midtown have the most potential of any district/neighborhood in the city. All we need is a little more creativity and genius minds who are able to exploit that potential.

Ha, I knew there had to be a name for that place. Here are some ideas being brought forward.

The redevelopment incentives program is designed to address the low residents problem with is key to sustaining business in downtown once the work crowds have departed..the plan is to double the population to about 16000 to 19000
Within the next ten years..already two developers have signed on to build new residents home..one a apartment style layout the other a highraise
