Has anyone seen that questionable football team of about 7 year old kids who hold out a football helmet for money under the 288 and Beltway 8 bridge? They are there almost year round, even outside football season. These kids walk right out into traffic without fear. They are too young to know the dangers of a highway.

There is an adult who sits in a van parked up on the dirt under the bridge just watching them seemingly until they have enough money for the day then all the kids run to the van and they go home till the next day.

They have no name on the helmets or any team jerseys on. Just gimmy money in their eyes. They been there 2 years that I can remember. Seems to me in 2 years they could finance a professional NFL team.

The problem isn't necessarily the people asking for money, it's the people giving it to them. If they never got a dime, then they would move on. My taxes provide for these people who are worthless, so they won't be getting any physical cash from me on the side as well.

No person is worthless. If you imagine that only those who have money are of value and those that don't are not...then it might be you who have worthless values. Professional beggars who do it for a living are to be avoided....If in your good judgement someone approaches you who clearly is sincere...give them a little something...There are days when I have extra cash and am not under strain...I take pleasure in giving a bum a couple of buck...difference being - I usually know which of the poor are legit and those that are weasels. Put simply - I only give to those I know.

You mention the problem is with the "people giving it" - what would you do...? Create a law that makes it illegal to give beggars money? Beggars are like strippers or dancing girls in ancient times...Beggars have around for thousands of years...It's not some new phenomena that sprung from a poorly managed welfare check.

True by her logic then a millionaire is more valuebale than her.. So if there is a burning building I should save the richer person over her..lol

As I have said here before, we lived in an apartment at the corner of Walnut Hill and Central Expressway in Dallas. Every night we saw a van full have their dinner break and make the shift change locations. These are the ones with the hand lettered signs written on cardboard.
Someone came in a nice van, brought fast food dinner and a 12 pack of beer. They sat in the shade behind a building, then all but 2 got in the fan and went to the next intersection. We saw it from May until we got into our house in November.
It is a job.
