We are evaluting a transfer option with my company. We currently live in Tulsa, OK. My office would be in Greenway Plaza. I think we are going to end up in the suburbs, I have two early elementary aged kids and I think the master planned communities offer what we are looking for. I've been looking in SugarLand, Missiouri City, and Pearland. I found a community I thought looked promising, Sienna Plantaion but I can only find housing for new construction, is there no resell there?

Also, within each of those communities, how do you determine which neighborhoods are good? And finally any good advice for the commute, that's my biggest negative for moving there. Are there any other communities I should be looking at with those things in mind? We would likely be in the 200-300k price range.

Thanks for the help

Sugarland looks like the best bet for your commute. There are plenty of good neighborhoods in Sugarland. I don't know of many bad ones. The schools are good there as well.

Look at HAR.com. You can search by zip code or subdivision, like Sienna Plantation. Good luck!

If you can carpool, there is an HOV lane that comes in from the southwest suburbs. You can take the lane if you have 2 plus people in the car, or there is also a fairly new toll option. The HOV lane exits at Edloe in the Greenway Plaza area. There is also the Westpark toll road that exits on Westpark just a few miles west of Greenway Plaza. It is an easy path down Westpark to Edloe or Buffalo Speeedway the main roads that feed into the Greenway Plaza area. There are lots of good residential neighborhoods near Greenway Plaza, West U, Bellaire, Afton Oaks, to name a few, but they probably are well above your price range.

Westbury and Maplewood are good neighborhood just outside the loop on the southwest side you can get a nice remodeled 2000sqft to 2500sqft home for $240k to $275k. These 2 neighborhoods area 8 to 10 miles to Greenway

Westbury look in the areas north of Anderson elementary east of Hillcroft and stay away from Westbury south

You can look at Sugar Land, the subdivision you may look at are Telfair, Riverstone, New Territory, Avalon. They are zoned to excellent public schools and have easy access to 59 to commute to Greenway Plz.

Sienna is great. All the schools are in the neighbourhood, and there's fantastic amenities. Depending on your start time, the commute is anywhere from 35-50 minutes to the Galleria.
