We are coming into town to check out the area in the next couple of weeks, during our kids' spring break. Mostly we will be checking out different neighborhoods, etc, but I'm hoping we can find something fun for the kids to do since all that driving around is going to be pretty boring for them.

Is it hot enough to swim at the hotel pool? Any other suggestions of fun kids activities that don't take a whole day to do?

Also, I've read so much about the FOOD in Houston . . . would love some suggestions on restaurants to try while we are there.

Thanks!

Depends on the weather but it may well be warm enough to swim in a pool (although the water may not be super warm this time of year). This is one of the prettiest times of year to visit.

My personal favorite restaurant (and kids love it) is Chuy's: Chuy's Dot Com Many people here will tell you that it's not "real" Mexican food but it is delicious!

Maybe check out La Centerra. They have a farmer's market on Saturday mornings. Or you could just go there and just walk around and get a cupcake at the sweet boutique. My kids like it there.

Are you going to have time to check out any museums or the zoo?

Have a great trip!

My suggestions:

Buffalo Bayou Kayak Tours and Shuttle Service
Houston Fast Track
KATY MINIATURE GOLF & BATTING CAGES

And lots of info on here already:

Katy's quite suburban so don't expect too much out there.

Thank you!!! Didn't know about the farmer's market, maybe we'll check that out! No, we won't have time for museums or the zoo . . . just have a few days so I'm hoping we can fit in a little fun every day for the kids, during our driving around checking areas/neighborhoods out.

Discovery Green park downtown, and Hermann Park in the museum district, are great places to spend a couple of hours with the kids.

You also have to eat some BBQ while in Houston. If you are going to stay in Katy proper, then you have Rudy's and Spring Creek. There are better places elsewhere in town, but these are places in Katy, both right on I-10.

Enjoy!
