Are there any movie theaters in Houston that offer mom and child type showings? I would love to take my older kid to the movies (or even just go by myself), but I have an infant. I have heard of some theaters offering mom and child shows, but I can't find any information online. Preferably area close to the Memorial City Mall or just inside Beltway 8.

This is tough. Going to movies aren't good for infants or for the audience. I didn't start going to movies until I was 3, but it depends on your kid and on the movie.

I'm not sure about Mom and child showings/theaters. But when we had a baby and toddler and took them to the movies - it was for the kids, and we usually went at the first showing of the day. Usually if you are taking a kid to a kid movie - you aren't the only one there with an infant. Just take some ear protection for the baby.

There are some. My wife has taken our son (nearly 2) a couple of times. I'll ask her which one it was. I want to say it was like $1 or $2. I think the showings are aimed at younger kids though.

EDIT:
It was Studio movie grill and it's their Children's Summer Series. See here: http://www.studiomoviegrill.com/BodyGraphic.aspx?ID=492
$1 for children, $2 for adults.

There's a SMG at CityCentre so a good location for you.

That's why I am looking for special showings that are OK for mothers with infants (the sound is not too loud, for example) and the audience doesn't mind, since it's mostly moms with kids.

Thanks. Unfortunately, they just finished their summer :-(
I wonder if there is a place in Houston that does them throughout the year.

Studio Movie Grill does have early morning shows on weekends and school holidays throughout the year for kids. It is a cartoon series during the school year.

SMG: Eat, Drink, Movies

And I remember seeing some breakfast & kid's movie showings advertised at one of the places. Not sure if it was Movie Tavern or SMG.

Angelika Film Center and Alamo Drafthouse both have child friendly showings.
