I've never driven Westpark so I have zero clue. But from the Beltway to Westpark what's it like?

I'm eyeballing a Galleria area job and according to Bing I should take 290 to 610. But eff that. I know how 290 rolls. It doesn't. From the Beltway to 610 there's like one shoulder and it's rickety as hell. I can't imagine how it is with all the SUVs and people coming from Cypress. When there's an accident you're screwed because there's no shoulder. How can you move around it?

I'd take the Beltway to Westpark because I drive the Beltway now and I know how it rolls and can be at the office in no time once I pass 290. But I don't like 610 on a weekend. Nevermind rush hour. I've done 45 to 610 and I'll pass. I'd rather take the Beltway to Westpark then on it. Shoot even the feeders while ridiculous aren't as bad a 45 and 610 and 290. That's not something I want.

I know Westpark is packed with everyone and their mom and dog who live in Katy and only have the parking lot aka I-10 of Westpark

I don't find it bad. From Katy to beltway, it's slow, but once you pass inside Bltwy, it flows full speed until you hit around fondren, then it slows slightly. It's only clogged if you have to go on 59 ramp, but you won't be going that way. This is around 7:30-7:45am

I ride it every day between 6:00 - 6:20 am from 99 to the beltway. It flows around 40-50 mph. After that it slows down to 20 mph. One morning around 7:15 am it took me 45 minutes instead of the usual 20. This toll road fills up very quickly; you gotta catch it before 6:20 am to have a semi smooth ride.

Morning rush hour, it's slow once you get close to the Hwy 59 exit, otherwise it runs smooth. Since you'll be working at the Galleria area, just avoid the 59 exit and use either Westpark Dr or Post Oak exit to get to the side streets which will be faster than the congested freeway.

Afternoon rush hour though, it gets pretty congested near the Beltway 8 exit, so I avoid using it.

Heading west it moves fine until 3:45, where it slows, then later parks around Fondren. The back up used to not start until 4:15...but traffic is getting worse. It flows normally again after 6:30. The Beltway moves fine to the north, just getting to it during that time slot is half the battle.

Heading east the slow down starts around 7:15 at Fondren. Gets better around 8:30.

I think Westpark is great, gives folks on 99 and Westpark a quick way to fly down to BW8 and Galleria. But its so darn expensive!
