That's exactly what's happening
it's just one being news media monopoly
When one of them say one thing, all the other ones in the whole country say the exact same thing.

Maybe the media is just catering to the ignorant masses. When you see online comments at newspapers, or any forums, you can get a feel for the level of what the American public is really interested in. For a while it was Honey Boo Boo. Now it's Duck Dynasty. Miley Cyrus, of course, and all those other celebrities who are such poor role models. But that's what the media thinks Americans want.

The biggest thing I've noticed about the media is that it puts most emphasis on controversy, not on factual reporting.

There are many of us who want facts about what affects our lives. We want to know the details of ACA, and not from Fox, which will not tell you anything but the negative. We want to know about foreign affairs, human rights, civil rights, technology, science, etc. Just the facts, please.

I can't stand Fox or MSNBC. Total and biased B.S., both of them. I get my news in part from the major networks. It's mostly factual, but then there are shows on Sunday mornings that are opinion shows with a good political balance. They provide something for all political leanings to get upset about. In the evenings, I also watch the PBS shows, which tend to interview people from both right and left. As much as I disagree with Pat Buchanan, I love watching him spar with those to the left of center on the PBS show he's on. There are several other news shows on PBS like that as well, where there are panelists from different political persuasions.

Bottom line for the media: just give us intelligent reporting, period.

People don't want to pay for or pay attention to detailed reporting. This was revealed 20+ years ago with the popularity of USA Today. Now smartphones have trimmed those 'articles'.

The Chronicle.com is a trip. I like looking at the weddings from time to time and the SAME couple is the "featured" couple on the opening page. Published in the actual chronicle exactly TEN years ago. Say what now?

Life Weddings And Celebrations - Houston Chronicle

Some "editor" for that section is sleeping at the wheel. Some unpaid intern hasn't noticed that in TEN YEARS? No one on staff has notice that???? It's kind of ridiculous.

Default Rant...

Anyone but me notice that the same topic called "How to dress for San Antonio's Fiesta" is still featured on the Travel section since March? The Fiesta has come and gone, Chron needs to do their job and clean up!

It beats having to research it by yourself and it costs you absolutely nothing.
