I keep seeing things like you will have to spend $1400 a month. Not true.

They might not be as nice as the newer apartments, but you can find decent places in the Montrose/Midtown/Heights area. Besides, some of the older fourplexes have more character anyway.

Just look on craigslist. I did a search for all properties under $1,200 and found plenty.

Very true. Only give someone a deposit after you have looked at the property in person, and give them a check in person. Never wire money.

$1k will not get you much inside the loop outside the beltway you can get a nice 2brd for that

Yes you can, but most single professionals don't want to live outside the beltway. Which was the point of my post.

This is small, but in a very good location and perfect for someone on a budget. HAR will work too.

live close for nothing in Sunnyside, 5th ward, kashmere Gardens, etc.

OK. This sounds great. LOL. So, outside the loop, $1,000 for a NEW apartment is possible? I know rents have increased and times have changed though.

It certainly is if you live in a working class neighborhood. To bad the areas look to scary for most on this board. You can EASILY get an older house for cheap in the loop and fix it up
