My daughter attended St. Luke's United Methodist Pre K. It is near River Oaks. I hear good things about the programs at West U Methodist, St. Andrews Presbyterian (West U), St. Paul's United Methodist (Med Center), Bellaire United Methodist, and St. Mark's Episcopal (Bellaire), and St Thomas Episcopal (Meyerland). If you are looking to place your child for next year, the application deadline for a lot of these programs for 2014-2015 may have passed.

Corrrection that earlier post should be Post Oak School, which is a Montessori school on Bissonnet in Bellaire. You might also check into the Beehive School Coop in West U.

If you're looking at Montessori - Southampton Montessori on Morningside in Rice Village is well regarded and quite a bit cheaper than Post Oak Montessori.

How does it work when kids who are not christian at home attend a Christian school? Are religious books mandatory ?

in pre-school they probably say a prayer and learn about Jesus a bit while finger painting. In Elementary/Middle/High School they will attend chapel on some sort of schedule (depends on the school - could be daily, weekly, etc) and they will take Religion (Theology) classes.

Thats cool ! I really dont mind my kids learning a bit about Jesus and saying a prayer ( which is peaceful ) as long as it is not pushed to them and non - religious parents are snubbed at . Thanks Maroon79! I might go and visit some of those schools as well just so that we are not missing out
