Hi,

We're going to be moving to Houston from Ontario Canada soon so I'm looking for suggestions on possible neighborhoods to look at. Workplace will be in Westside(Richmond Av. 77042) We don't have kids so schools is not that big of a deal. If possible, we'd like to keep time to work max 45 minutes. We like trees and currently have a 2.0 acre lot but I think we can live with a smaller 1/4 acre or little less. Was in Houston last year and really like Weston Lakes but I'm wondering what the commute would be like? Woodlands looks nice but I think would be a long commute. Katy/Sugarland/Cinco Ranch I didn't really find the privacy was there. Any other areas we should look into?

Thanks

You may have to look a little further out like Fulshear 77441.
You ll get some privacy out there and some acreage.
It's about 22 miles to west chase.
You can get on the westpark tollway. Probably takes you about 30min

Good luck

It's good that you mentioned your workplace location and commute-time tolerance - but the missing pieces of information are your housing budget (in US dollars!) and a general description of your preferred house type (i.e., overall square footage, no. of bedrooms/baths, any special amenities like a pool and so on - as well as which features are negotiable and which are non-negotiable.

(I am assuming you want a single-family home, which is implied in your post).

The more information you provide, the better suggestions people can give you.

We'd like to stay under the 400k mark if possible. Preferably single family home(split and bungalow OK I guess) 3+ bedrooms 2+bathrooms, with at least double garage(3 is better) and privacy(we're coming from a home with 2acre lot),pool would be nice but not a must.

You may also want to look at something on the water or golf course. This was you will have a more private feel with no rear neighbors.

Whispering oaks subdivision is nice and secluded . It is in Richmond (along 359) and will be closer to your work than fulshear (i think it would be about 25 minutes) and they have houses on 1 acre lot for $370k starting. I was looking at Weston lakes and fulbrook in fulshear but traffic there turned me off.

Richmond is nice, and you should take another look at Sugar Land. Maybe Rosenberg?

The Richmond area could take you upwards of an hour to get home. The freeways are very congestd with commuters, and the surface streets are single lane and not equiped to handle the population boom. And if it's raining...

All the said, River Forest in Richmond is worth looking into. But really for privacy out there you will need to get more acreage. It's suburban, subdivision city out that way, and it's not slowing down. One acre ranchettes with no trees seem to be the trend.

If you are going to put up with driving that far, I'd head out to Brookshire. Or rent an apartment and have a weekend place in Columbus.
