I'm already searched the forum and here are the questions that I have that I couldn't find on water softeners. I'm looking to get a water softener for Katy.

- It seems like a lot of people are recommending a Kinetico water softener system (more expensive but seems like will be better in the long run). What about the GE Pro Elite water softener? Should I even consider this? While price matters, I do want a system that will last me the longest and be best performing. Also, my water softener MUST be installed outside because my main water line is on the side opposite the garage so not an option to put the water softener in the garage.

- Are there any other dealers besides Aquatek that can install a Kinetico water softener? In other words, how do I know that Aquatek will have the best price on a Kinetico water softener?

- How much should I expect to pay for a Kinetico water softener?

Thanks.

If you have the money, go with Kinetico. If you don't, go with a Fleck.

I think the Kinetico goes for $3k, the Fleck can be had for around $1,200.

I wouldn't recommend GE. It might be good. From the research I've done, a lot of companies use Fleck valves.

I would definitely recommend the G.E. Pro Elite. The analyzers keep it a self maintaining system, no programing the hardness. Save salt, water , and energy. I have had one for 3 years now and see a difference then a softener I had before.

Kinetico is way over priced and not worth it. GE is china junk. Look at the APEC systems, all american made and I think the quality beats out Kinetico for a fraction of the price.

My Kinetico is perfect. Never had to touch it besides salt.

If you're looking for a water softener, I'd recommend giving Belsome H20 a call.
They installed our Fleck and couldn't be happier..

Do you need to plan anything from a pre-plumbing perspective when considering water softeners and whole home filtration or can it be easily installed after construction ?

Both. I had the water softener pipes runs done by the builder so it was a plug and play for me. My neighbor had the Kinetico installed after the build and it was very easy and part of the Kinetico install. They can easily tie into the existing water system. It was a really clean job. So it really works both ways as I've seen it...
