Bunch of $30K millionaires think they're highfalutin because they didn't go to the regular HEB that day.

That's a nice area though. I would say most of the people are 100k millionaires.

But seriously is the city turning kinda douchey with all the new transplants and the new money wealth? I could picture a lot of younger professionals who make 60-70k living it up inside the loop acting like they hit the lottery.

My friends from back home say that the people in the oil biz act like they're the movie star of Houston.

So, if the inner loop people are elitist snobs are the suburbs just white trash?

Breaking news: Snobby shoppers have been spotted in a grocery store located in one of the wealthiest neighborhoods in the US.

Anyone shopping at CM is undercover snobby anyway. A food snob anyway. You can get healthy and fresh stuff at the regular grocery story but all this "oh it's organic and fresh" is all for show to say you shop at Whole Foods or Central Market.

But nope, people have to be food special and shop for the same stuff at a higher price. Anyone at CM or WF has an elitist attitude at least where food is concerned. You can avoid junk and crap at your regular Kroger, HEB, Randalls (even though Randalls is high too).

I know people who can barely pay their rent, fresh out of college who are the Gen Y entitled but but I should be making X instead of Z who spend an arm and leg grocery shopping at Whole Foods and dining at different places in the Loop weekly because they're "foodies" and want to eat fine foods. You're just going to crap it out eventually and still be struggling with rent and loans.

As someone who enjoys good food and loves to cook, I do shop at Central Market infrequently for specialty items not available elsewhere. Thank goodness DejaBlue won't be there to get in the way while I'm exercising my food snobbishness at the meat counter!

As if "Gen Y" owns the patent on living beyond one's means.

I don't shop at Central Market or Whole Foods. Not because of the price. I just eat like crap. While the prices are very expensive it will be cheaper in the long run with better health. Health care costs are brutal. You are basically investing in your future for your body.

I have been to Central Market several times though. I never found anyone snobby.
