Any knowledge of local no kill shelters in Houston area?

Have two adult dogs that need a good home and did not want to dump them or send to pound.

Was looking for a shelter or group would take them until they could be adopted.

Tried contacting a coupke online and have not heard back. Thought somebody on here might have some experience with one.

Staar. Out west of Katy by the Igloo factory. I have gotten a dog there before and donate. Great group.

So you have two dogs and now you have decided you don't want them anymore. Would you just dump your children if you don't want them anymore? Owning a pet is a life long commitment. You can try CAPS but they are always full from people with lack of responsibly for animal ownership.

It's summer time. Every pound, shelter, rescue group are beyond capacity. If you take them to a pound they will be euthanized, since it's an owner surrender. Sometimes the same day you turn them in. If you dump them...well that's illegal but doesn't stop people from doing it. Either way, it's a death sentence.

If they're a certain breed, you can try the breed specific rescue groups.

Please, please, whatever you do, don't dump them.

However, the reality is that most no-kill rescues do not take surrenders. They typically get their animals from other shelters where the animal would have to be put down due to time, overcrowding, medical/behavioral needs, etc.
The truth is, if you must give the dogs up, you are likely giving them a death sentence. I don't know what your circumstances are, but please think long and hard about this. Sometimes even putting them down yourself is a more human option-dogs suffer a LOT of trauma going into shelters, etc.
Best of luck, and I echo the sentiment that perhaps you should not be a pet owner again. The commitment really needs to be for their lifetime.

Those poor dogs.
Please don't dump them.
You don't have a family member or friend who could take them?

Advertise on craig list or something, it's free. If you release them in this heat they'll suffer a painful death.
