I have found myself facing one the biggest challenges in my life, taking care of my mother. She recently had a mental break down and has been from a Mental hospital, to a regular hospital, to a nursing home. My hopes were for her to get better by now. Anyway, I want her to move in with me, but I still have to work. So I am looking for someone to sit with her during the day, just hang out, be a companion and help her with basic needs. If you are interested or no of anyone that might be interested, please respond. Any advice on this situation is welcome too.

Hi Dawnrenee,

I know how hard that can be. I took care of my mother with terminal lymphoma for several months before she died and I had to work as well. Thankfully I worked for myself and was able to do what I needed to do but it was still difficult at times.

I would suggest you check with home health care services. The hospital should have lots of references for you to check out. Some people have themselves listed as "Senior Companions" etc...but be sure you check their references thoroughly. Also, if you find yourself at a dead end, try calling some nursing homes or assisted living places to see if they have anyone they can recommend. I bet a lot of seniors in those places can get pretty lonely sometimes. Sheltering Arms might be able to help with suggestions too. Their website is: Sheltering Arms - Since 1893

Good luck!
