Hello,

My family is looking at a possible move to the Houston area late this year/early next. Since city data info has helped us with moves in the past, I'm asking for help (again) from this website and the locals.😃

My family and I have lived in a couple of areas in Texas but have lived outside of the U.S. for the last 16 months and know very little about the Houston area.

We have children from Kindergarten to high school, so good schools are key. They don't have to be "perfect 10s" to be a great school and not looking to have the newest, biggest or most expensive home. We have one older son who goes to UT and another son who will be going off to college in the fall of 2016, so finding the most for our buck has taken on a whole new meaning! Hoping to find an area that has all the basics as far as shopping/doctors/dentists and doesn't require "white knuckle interstate driving" on a daily basis. Just wanting a comfortable, safe place to call home...and hopefully with a larger than average lot so we have a little room.

Open to any area within a 20 mile (or so) radius of Houston. My husband will be working outside of the U.S., so commuting isn't an issue.

Budget is key for assistance.

And what you want in a house. Room for some CD'er here is 1750 sqft as long as it's close to bars, clubs and museums while for others it's 3500+ in suburbia.

True that budget helps, but I hardly think that 1750 sq ft will work with 6 children (though 2 will be in college).

Pretty sure that this family wants a larger house in a suburb. They also want good schools for Kindergarten through high school.

You'd be surprised.

I would look toward the Woodlands. I think you'll find what you need up there. They have homes in all budget ranges and there is pretty much all you will need and never have to venture into houston.

Presuming your husband is going to be flying in and out of IAH regularly you might consider Kingwood. Obviously a budget is needed to be any more specific.
