Hello,

Asking for a senior citizen who is not online ... anyone had a great experience with a
colorectal surgeon, preferably with a Sugar Land/southwest hospital affiliation? Not a dealkiller but preferable.

She is seeking a second opinion on a suggested colon surgery and maybe going with the
'second opinion' doc if she likes him/her better....

If you prefer a DM please do, and thanks for thinking about it!

Home - Colorectal Surgical Associates

Dr. Mahmood is in the sugar land office. Absolutely top notch. I've been through 2 surgeries with him and can't say enough about him and his practice. Affiliated with Methodist Hospital in sugar land.

After I find a few names of physicians I am interested in, I check them out here:

Thanks so much everyone -- and Texas7 for that great website! One of these names
has already come up as a recommendation - any more "votes" welcome!

Glad you liked that site. I had a surgeon I used once and had no problems. He was highly recommended. I later checked him on the texas medical board site and he had multiple sanctions, malpractice for a patient death and was actually ordered to retake the medical test. Wow. I scratched him off my list.

The only issue with that site is that it is often not up to date. It is just the state board site to indicate licensure. It relies heavily on the practitioner him/herself updating it. It also tends to make mountains out of molehills by making things like the licensee not paying their annual fee on time sound like incredibly ominous infractions.

That said, texas7 is right, any state licensure site is always a good place to start your research.

Yes, what I look for are board sanctions, any criminal offenses, board actions. Then I look at awards, appointments, education, papers etc. the annual fee is not even something I look at.
