I was hoping not to post more stories like this. Technip cutting 6000, mostly in US.

Time for the MEGA mergers. Watch Exxon and Chevron stock. Hint :-) If you have cash now is a good time to buy

Not good. It's looking pretty bleak for next year. Not a whole lot of major projects going ahead. This could be just the start unfortunately for the EPCI's...

I'm glad I jumped in the industry when it was on the way up

I highly doubt 4 years of experience will do you much good when there are thousands of people in the market competing for very few openings (if any) many of whom have 20+ years of experience.

Gotta hit that sweet spot in experience, age and price.

Too experienced - too old and costly. Plenty of them were nice but anyone in energy knows men in their seventies still working in offices. No one tells them no even if they are sleeping but layoffs or restructuring come around and everyone "retires". Then you see them years later in another office pushing 80

Shoud this thread have remained a sticky? Maybe pulled the trigger on this too soon. Looks like the O&G funk will hang around for a while.

I think the saving grace here is they might not merge so at least there won't be as much duplication of staff layoff.

Either way is a bloodbath for the rest of the year. I think the majors are going to start announcing some big cuts.
