What side of town is your company in? We can get a better idea of what to suggest.

No problem with hunting and fishing here in the Houston area. Depending on what type of work you do a lot of your coworkers will hunt. I work with a bunch of engineers we have 25 people in our office alone and half the office likes to hunt. several guys are big fisherman here too.

There are good places for both saltwater and freshwater fishing not too far from Houston. Deer hunting leases are located throughout east and central Texas. You'll also be able to hunt waterfowl, wild turkeys, wild hogs, etc. With this area's ever-increasing suburban sprawl, you may have to drive a couple of hours or more for some of these activities. Friends who moved here from other parts of the U.S. find they can always have fish and game in their freezer.
