I swear SW Katy area is getting over ran by apartments. I've noticed quite a few new ones breaking ground off grand parkway.

I think the City of Katy will be better off in the long run due to the zoning and stricter building codes.

City of Katy boundaries don't correspond to school zones, though.

it's absolutely astounding how many apartment complexes are going up.

It's horrible when they do that. That's how SW houston was in the late 70s and early 80s and look at those complexes now. Too many, too close together.

Not sure what you mean, but I was referring about Katy proper not being overran by apartment complexes. All of Katy Proper falls within Katy ISD zone. Unfortunately outside city of Katy limits is a different story.

I think he means even if you live in COK, your kids will be going to the same school.as apartment dwellers. There's no separate special KISD schools for COK residents.

I don't have a problem with that, I'm more concerned with what happened to Greenspoint and the SW. I'm seeing more and more people selling their aged homes, surrounded by new apartments and running for the hills.

there are ton of new apartments up and down the grand parkway, starting right behind the costco on 99/I-10 all the way down to south mason behind the walgreens in richmond....If you count the three new complexes that opened up off of the westpark tollway and those still under construction in the lakes of bella terra, and the two in long meadow farms, that will bring a lot more bodies out there to the richmond/katy area

for the record, those are not cheap apartments either...one bedroom rents at the new Alexan complex on the grand parkway near the fort bend annex is $1300 a month for 650 sq feet.

The other old areas were nice back in their day. As the complexes age, people with means head for newer, nicer complexes. Then the slowed line begins - they lower rents etc because they can't compete with newer properties. It takes many years though 15-20 years maybe. I looked at a home in league city off of highway 96. We backed off because of the sea of apt complexes surrounding the area with evn more being constructed. I don't want to move again in 20 years. That's kind of why I like older, built out areas. You know what's there and no available land so no real surprises coming.

You may not have a problem with that, but I'd wager that most suburbanite CityData forum posters do, at least judging from what they post about schools.
