Hi All,

After hearing from y'all on my prev post "Katy vs Richmond", we have had time to look around in more detail, and realized that we needed to increase our budget from 275K to 300Ks to get all the features we were looking for. Given that, we looked at Fieldstone subdivision near Palladium, and liked the location and school zone etc. We talked to Meritage, KHOV, and Ashton Woods over there. My wife really liked the Bridgeport plan from AW, and we were wondering if anyone else has bought any AW home in that area/subdivision. And what is your opinion on them. What sort of wiggle room do you get while negotiating with them? A friend of mine in Woodcreek Reserve said he got nearly 60K in upgrades/negotiation, but I don't know all the details there.
Also, to someone living in that neighborhood but bought Meritage or KHOV, what were the driving factors for choosing those builders?

The other location we went to today was Ventana lakes. Perry and DR Horton are building and selling homes pretty fast. We also liked one of Horton's floor plan, and it is pretty much the same price as the AW in Fieldstone. To me, it is a little high given it's North of I-10, but then I have seen few folks tell how that area is going to be highly developed and sought after with the Grand Parkway, Chevron's land purchase, and Newland building MPC close to 529/99. Plus, it's Katy ISD and will have its own Elementary, Middle and High school in few years (we don't have kids so we can wait). But does that justify spending 320K in Ventana Lakes?

Your answers are much appreciated.
