Hello all ,

we are a family of three who just moved from out of state to spring and with both of us having new jobs near by. We are now looking to buy a house in the imperial oaks area and after some research we see three options for us:
(1) buy a used nice house for 200k and invest another 20k for repaint, recarpet and new appliances
(2) buy a new 260k lennar home
(3) buy a new 340k David weekly home

Today we drove through legend run, an area south of imperial oaks. It was a KB home enclave and somehow it made a bit of a rundown impression. We thought that this might be because of the people who could afford KB only. That's why we even started looking at the 300k region (David weekly)

What would you go for? Also having the future of the community in mind.

Thank you very much for your feedback

Chmike

Best school, best location, best for family, easily affordable within family budget.

Only YOU and your family can answer those.

Hey there,
Thank you for the feedback. Well actually all is given in the imperial oaks community and all three options are within our budget. This still leaves the three options open for us and I wonder what others with more area experience would vote for...

I just moved from out of town as well, so I don't have much knowledge of the area, but if I had the options of the 3 in the same location/community, I would go with option #1 provided that the house has a good footprint for renovation. This option allows you to save money and update it with your personal touch. I like newer homes, but you end up spending more money because their standard options are usually below grade and usually the things you like are expensive and considered an upgrade. I ended up buying a new build only because I couldn't find an older house in the location/community that I liked with potential for renovations. I will be ripping all their standard options out and will be renovating after I move in.

I'd buy the David Weekly home.

We reserved a lot in a lennar section until Saturday. After some feedback gathering and research I found that none of the option is wrong or right. Area is generally fine also according to the flood plan. We found the David weekly houses just being to big for us. But things are still open....
