I didn't realize early to mid 30's is old as hell. I'm familiar with one of the gentleman, and he is not "old", and they are all professionals who have done everything that the elitists, classists, and racists say they are "supposed" to do to fit in and be accepted by society. They wear their pants at their waists, they're well educated, they are gainfully employed, and STILL some people here will find a reason to excuse the fact that they were asked to pay, while their non-minority counterparts were not.

This is whats wrong with the world (this is not directed at you lipbalm, just general commentary). Some people will find any excuse to treat others like crap, or will stand idly by while others are mistreated, and will only cry foul if THEY are treated poorly. If you can't or won't stand against injustice, then don't expect anyone to stand for you or with you when the tables are turned.

Judging from the photo alone, I can see a few reasons why they might have been charged a cover and none of it has a thing to do with their skin color. It's not fair, but we're talking about a club in Houston not Oklahoma City.

Learn how to dress. Good looking attire goes a long way.

Are the White Males they are being accused of letting in without a cover charge.......30 something's......or are they the young hip crowd they want?

And - business casual clothing appropriate for lawyers to go to work in on a Friday...is not going to be what you would wear to a young hip night club....

So I'm guessing no one here has heard the bouncer say, "Let's not make it a dark night," or the "night's getting dark." I'm guessing, this didn't have anything to do with age, weight, fashion, or 20 dollars.

Yes, clubs are supposed to be exclusive and discriminatory. Limited membership or access is sort of the purpose of all clubs. In this case, the clubs' reputations are based on both their clientele and exclusivity.

It's really starting to seem like there is no such thing as freedom of association in this country anymore.

There's simply not enough evidence of this being an issue of race.

And there are how many bars/clubs around Houston? Find another one and keep it moving, go spend your money somewhere where its wanted instead of giving them this free publicity. I'm sure they didn't miss much not getting in there anyway.

I'm not talking about this particular case... From my experience, it just seems more prevalent here in Houston than any other places I visited and lived. All anecdotal, of course.
