Best area for me to live inside the loop? (Houston: 2015, apartment complex)

Which is best for me? My budget can afford the following that I'm interested in: Greenway/Upper Kirby, Memorial Park/Rice Military, Heights, and Lazybrook/Timbergrove (just west of Heights).

I'm a young, single professional but I don't necessarily have to be right where all the action is and would rather avoid a higher crime/fun area to be somewhere slightly more quiet, which is why I did not include Montrose, Midtown, or East Downtown in the poll. That being said, location is still most important to me, which is why I like the upper Kirby area so far. I'm not as familiar with Washington/rice military and heights area, so if you have opinions on why it may be better, i'd like to hear.

You might want to check out the East End north of Navigation, zip codes 77003 and 77011. I wouldn't consider this EaDo at all as it's mostly a residential area of old, run-down homes with rolling hills near the bayou and it is quiet and will become increasingly desirable over time as land like that is rare in Houston and Navigation Blvd itself has had a charm implant recently so it's off to the races for that area. It will be a real neighborhood, not just clusters of townhomes amid industry like EaDo.

It's easy to plop down some blanket stats. HPD has beat stats that are more specific. The north of Navigation area that I mentioned shows below the most recent July 2015 crime blotter vs the same month in a Montrose beat and then Greenway/Kirby beat below that. A lot of the same types of crimes. Hard to escape that unless you go live out in the country.

If I had no financial limitations as OP, I would definitely choose Upper Kirby. No doubt about this area

OP what type of housing are you looking at? Are you buying or renting?

I ask because a single family home midway down a residential street in the Heights is going to ofer a very different living experience than say a huge apartment complex in Upper Kirby.

I'm in 77008 and I could have easily picked rice military but I'm close enough to get of use out of it. We were able to get a driveway and yard which were two big items to move back from the burbs

Most of the area does not flood it is nice and quite big lots and homes
