As far as your race is concerned I say don't even let it be a factor. All major North American cities are segregated to some extent and there is no city where Caucasian-Americans cannot find a neighborhood where "their kind" is the majority. White hipsters dominate parts of Detroit and that's a 90% black city. Don't pay attention to county/metro wide demographics but instead ask about individual neighborhoods.
