Hi All,

I have xfinity from comcast as my internet provider. I am so tired of their service. The speeds are "reliably" low and everytime I contact them they tell me to unplug the router and restart. This happens a few times a week.

I was wondering if ya'll know if a good alternative to them in the northwest part of town. I am a bit new to Houston so thought I should post the question here.

Thanks

Uverse or try purchasing your own modem vs using their leased ones.

Hi huma281

I was thinking about getting my own modem too but then I'm worried that they will use that as a cop-out for poor service. Maybe I should look into getting my own modem. Thanks for your suggestion.

I believe as of now the only options are Uverse and Xfinity. My brother had to get a tech out to change out his router, it made a huge difference.

speedtest.net is a great website.

Get your own modem and router. No problems since I got my own (we have Xfinity).

I have UVerse and am happy with it. Their Gigapower speeds are blazing fast!

Att uverse is great. I have the standard internet, it works great. I had the super duper speed xfinity and it was perpetually slow.

Try replacing your router first.

I used to have what I thought was slowness issues with Comcast and when I checked the modem, it was dropping every few seconds and reestablishing connection so it wasn't really slowness. I replaced the splitter and its been fine since. I've also had other instances of a weak signal where a BDA-K1/RA booster resolved the issue. I'd check these first before replacing expensive equipment or switching providers.
