Houston is not the best city to be low income in. Cost of Things are higher than they used to be like most major cities. Lots of good doctors. Very poor public transportation. It's hard here without a car.

[Mod cut: Not a grammar forum!] Houston is not poor friendly. Very bad public transportation. You will need a car. Why would you move when you don't have a job?

Every state has disability and rehabilitation services (DARS). Have you gone through all the assistance in your home state? Would you be leaving family and support people there?

Houston will have more jobs and very likely more jobs appropriate for you based on mild to moderate disability or mobility issues.

Are you able to deal with extreme heat? That is the climate for about half the year.yes many good museums, hospitals, home health and doctors although the state Medicaid program is very cash strapped so services are being cut every year particularly services for the disabled. That may be the case in Wyoming as well I dont know.

Have you already spoken with the SSA to discuss moving out of state and how that affects your benefits? For many people, the move to Texas requires replication which may delay payments and supportive services. worst case scenario - you dont qualify in this state

More transportation options here than in wyoming. The bus system here provides door to door transport for those qualified under their own disability process. You have to live within the service area so that means in the city of houston and not its far suburbs. Medicaid transport does operate in houston for medical visits

Do you receive $1000 or more with disability? If you make the standard $600-700 per month without any savings or family support living in houston will be very difficult. That may end up leaving you to personal care homes. Many care homes are in this state but many without rules or regulations for safety. Would take time and assistance to find a safe clean place.

Texas is a harsh state to live in as low income and disabled. I imagine rural states are similar but if you have family and friends helping you in Wyoming and would be leaving that for texas, that could make a solid argument for staying where you are

Whatever you do, dont up and move without some savings, a place to live, and all questions answered regarding your benefits
