We are planning on building a house in telfair and I was wondering what people think about getting a water softner / reverse osmosis system placed in your house.

The Dupure system seems pretty costly and the filters also seems like they cost a lot to replace.

also what about getting it done after the house is built, by a 3rd party.

thanks for your help.

I will probably get one put in later. the prices that the builders quoted me were high too. I am building in telfair at the moment. My home should be ready in 6-8 months

What system did you go with? Like you I didn't go with a system offered by the builder.

Yes, Dupre is WAY too expensive. We got a crazy quote from them. We ended using Hague, water softner / reverse osmosis system. They were recommended to us be 3 of our friends who loved it. Excellent customer service and they are a member of BBB.

Residential Water Softening & Purification - Home Water Softeners

And in the end, I love it too!

I live in Firethorne and were also outraged at the price Dupure wanted. We got the EXACT SAME SYSTEM for less than HALF the price by a highly recommended local company that really knew the system...not just a trained sales person! The company was Affordable Quality Water. They have a website its www.AffordableQualityWaterSystems.com We are so happy we took the advice of our neighbors and bought from them! Their # is 713-530-2662 Hope this will help you!

Has anyone put saltfree (no-salt) system? I read lot of negative health impact from salt softner. Would like to know experience of salt free system.

A cheap solution would be to just get an RO filter for the kitchen sink and install it yourself.

How much you paid for the water softener and installation?

Are you happy with the Hague system? Did you have the WatexMax? Who was the installer/dealer?

Can you elaborate on the "negative health impact" regarding the salt softner?
