I think it's a Biomedical Research campus, and I'm sure it's needed and useful and all that, but it's unfortunate the hotel had to go. I remember I was in High School working in the Med Center when they tore the Shamrock down and how upset many people were. A perfect example of how short sighted this city is sometimes. Can't figure out why they couldn't have just rebranded the hotel (I think it was a Hilton at the time) and updated it, unless there are reasons I'm unaware of. Prime Real Estate in an area with a demonstrated need for hotel rooms.

Didn't they leave the ballroom/meeting rooms adjacent to Holcombe? Maybe it can regenerate itself from that, LOL.
