Trying to find a place to donate clothes, shoes, childrens' toys, home electronics DIRECTLY to a shelter or impoverished home. Not looking to go the resale shop route or roadside dropoff, it seems very difficult to access these places directly (for good reason probably). Any help appreciated.

Depending on the item, Ft. Bend Women's shelter MAY re-use donations for their clients, or resell in their shops to raise funds for operations.

Goodwill keeps opening up donation centers in Cinco SW/Cross Creek Ranch. Before, the closest donation center was in the Wendy's and MW Cleaners shopping center on Mason Road. These serve as adjuncts to the Goodwill stores near I-10.

Anybody know what happened to Katy Christian Ministries (KCM)?

I've turned away from Goodwill, because after they sort through the recently donated items that they want, they just sell the rest. If I wanted a garage sale, I would have one. Ha! I really wanted to give the items directly to an organization where they are completing their mission/vision onsite.

As for KCM, they are in old town Katy now...
