I think that I was driving 45 North when I saw what appeared to be a carnival with giant Ferris wheel off to the side. Is that ALWAYS there or seasonal. That downtown freeway area has a lot of distractions like overhead random neon lights and such. It took some effort to keep my eyes on the road and not the neon . Just saying.

The ferris wheel is a part of the aquarium. It is open year round.

Well you should probably avoid big cities or Las Vegas if you are easily distracted because driving down 45 through Houston isn't really that distracting

Imagine if the OP was driving through Times Square. They would probably have to get out and just leave their car right there.

"I CAN'T DEAL WITH ALL THIS DAMN PRESSURE AND LIGHTS EVERYWHERE!"

But, joking aside, I also noticed the ferris wheel in the past and wondered about it. So, that's good to hear it's part of the aquarium!

If you live here, you really just don't notice it. It blends in with the visual clutter. However, I could see how it could distract a visitor seeing it for the first time. It is unusual to see an amusement ride so close to a freeway.

Actually it can be! That view of the skyline is one of the few scenic routes in Texas. Too bad its going to be torn down in a few years thanks to inner loop hipsters and the mayor's support.

Houston is very beautiful, but it's a city where you have to know where to go beforehand.

I too, am disappointed at the planned rerouting of 45.

It may be scenic but it doesn't distract me from driving. If you don't like the hipsters voting with their dollars then out buy them

Funny thing.....I work just down the street from the Wheel and I see it every day from my office and today's the first time that I've noticed it moving LOL.

BTW, How can Houston, such a big city, have such a nice zoo but not an appropriate aquarium? My kids would love that!
