It's totally weird to see on TV all the crazy floods and people being moved around on boats and then go on Facebook and see that people are having dinner parties or going out to a restaurant to eat.

My friend just went out and rented a car so the car rental places are clearly open.

Houston is huge and some places are way more effected than others. Houses in our neighborhood closest to the bayou got flooded out, for everyone else it was just a ****ty few days and mostly back to normal now.

Uh, no. Things are NOT "mostly back to normal now", even for those of us whose homes didn't flood.

I was speaking for my neighborhood. Almost all stored were open today. People out and about on their business. Very few homes damaged.

Some of us are still holding our breath to see what will happen when the rivers crest. We aren't out of the woods yet.

I will get flame for saying this, but the media try to compare this to Katrina is completely blowing this hurricane out of proportion. Spend a few hours driving around to visit relative and friends who are affected by the flood today and the city seem to be back in business. Katrina death toll was near 2000, thank God ours was only a hand full. Yes thousands of homes are damage but not compeletly destroy and need to be rebuilt from the ground up. Houston is so huge that when you compare the area flooded to non flooded area it only like 5-7% under water, not that it a good thing but not terrible. Schools, jobs, the daily task will be back on Monday. Lots of markets are open today except retailers and a few fast food joints.

How is the Hong Kong 4 area ? my wife aunt lived by Beltway 8 & I45 and I believed her home not effected by the flooding, we initially plan go to visit her on Labor weekend I guess we might have to change the plan.

What areas in the Houston metro region are being flooded by Harvey?-missouri-st.jpgIs this still the case? Is the Hong Kong Market nearby accessible?

As of now, most of south houston are back to ground level and drying up nicely. As for the Alief area was not affected really heavy with the storm. Sugar land held up really good, today weather is all sunshine for the most part on the west.
