John passed away yesterday at his home in Houston. He was a great character actor, and shall be missed. RIP "Higgie Baby"!

I loved watching Magnum followed by Simon & Simon.

Hillerman was perfect for the Higgins role.

Was he really Robin?

BTW, one of my favorite tv moments was when Magnum marched the Russian into the woods and executed him. It was such the opposite of the good guy letting the bad guy get away only to regret it.

I remember that. From my recollection, his friend got into Magnum's car and it blew up.

The Wikipedia entry for John says he was born in Denison, Texas ... but I remember reading over the years that he hailed from Houston. He must have kept a low profile, because I never read of him in the local media or saw him about town.

I only knew him from his role on Magnum P.I. He did a nice job on that, the character was quite entertaining.

North of I10 between Blalock and Campbell. It's listed in HCAD under his name.

I didn't either.

For a couple of years during the 80s, I had two housemates (one girl, and one guy) in a three bedroom place. For most of that period, the girl had the same boyfriend. For a portion of that period, he moved in with us and paid her rent and more (to compensate for his presence). Earlier in the 80s, the boyfriend had been Larry ('Rick' on the show) Manetti's stunt double on Magnum P.I.

He thought Hillerman was a great guy .

He could have been using it as rental property.

He lived there and used it as a primary residence, at least he did back in the late 90s and early 2000s. I have family that used to live nearby, and I remember them mentioning him when we drove by the house once, so it appears he owned it for quite a while. I remember the house had a limo parked there. I presume he used it for events.
