Hey, I'm a student in Sugar Land Texas. We're near to Houston. I'm fairly new here still, and my mother is visiting me from Washington State. She'll be here for about a week. Anyone familiar with the area? I want to take her everywhere and show her some cool scenes/fun places. We're going to the Galleria today and after that, who knows. Any ideas on how to make this week fun and interesting for her?

If you're interested in history then this is just south of you-

The Miller Outdoor Theater is in Hermann Park which is in the Museum District - that's a whole lot of something to see right there.

Visit the observatory while you're there.

The Houston museum of fine art has free admission all day on Thursday and on the 1st Sunday of the month too. This does not include ticketed admission though.

Check out gocity . com for things to do.

The gem vault at the Museum of Nature and Science is interesting if your mom is into that sort of thing.

You could go to Galveston or Kemah, too.
