We are looking at buying in woodforest Montgomery and are undecided between lennar or perry homes. We like both builders floorplans but aren't sure how the builders compare in regards to actual build. We are new to the states and are looking for some insight or experience.

I dont know anything about Lennar but here are my opinions on Perry from my experience.

Pro's
2 year "bumper to bumper" Warranty - smooth repair request process
Standard features are upgrades compared to most builders
Respectable Construction Managers
In house finance company with good rates and closing cost incentives
Lots of unused attic space. Good for light storage if you add 3/4" osb boards.

Cons
Hard to knock price down on dirt builds vs inventory homes
Sloppy paint job and drywall work
Upgrades are expensive

We live in a neighborhood with Perry as a builder and the neighborhood FB page has been littered with complaint after complaint about Perry homes and their shoddy construction/customer service, post-purchase. Every builder has their issues, but I've never seen so many about one builder in one place. Some of the photos people posted about the shoddy workmanship is just shameful on Perry's part.

Have lived in a Lennar home that we had built back in August of 2015 and we love it. No issues and we love their Everything's Included model, so there was very little for us to upgrade.

i currently live in a perry, and owned a village builders (lennar company) before this. my wife also used to be an area manager for lennar homes.

all that said, you really cant go wrong with either one. lennar will offer a bit more standard, they have always had an "everythings included" motto. (and some TERRIBLE radio commercials lol)

between my perry and my old village home, the only complaint i have with perry has been the paint. the job was fine, but the paint material quality isnt as good as my village home was.
outside of that, we never had any issues with our village, and have no issues with our perry.

we live in a dr horton community that had perry and horton early on, but perry left the community. our perry is leaps and bounds better built than the horton houses.

We just purchased a village. Worst experience of my life. Sloppy finish, lots of critical
Mistakes .. too much to even mention. Part of the problem is they were short on workers to begin with and they lost anyone skilled because workers left to go work on Harvey houses which pays much better. We got workers that were anyone who could hold a hammer — skills not necessary. Bad timing made things worse.
