Howdy!

My family is relocation from Plano to Houston this year. My territory for work will be the North West area. I have read a lot of conflicting information on the suburbs, schools, etc. What would be the most comparable area to Plano TX. This is a Huge move because my son is starting high school this year. This is also his first move to a new school district. He also plays football and does very well in school. We probably will not buy a home until next summer as we just bought the one we have in Plano this year. We do love older more established neighborhoods. Love Love trees! We don't care for the cookie cutter house repeated over and over in the same neighborhood. Also really worried about picking an area that was flooded by the hurricane. I originally was really interested in Kingwood as I have done work in that area. Besides the issues with flooding its a little bit more north east then I need to be for work. Of course I've thought a lot of The woodlands, but its a little bit more north with horrible stories of traffic. I drive all day for work but would like to stay as north west centrally located as I can.

Thanks- J

Are you looking to rent an apartment or house until you are ready to buy. Also what is your budget not only for rent but what will you be looking to spend when you are ready to buy next summer.

If you don't need to be too far north you can look at neighborhoods like Oak Forest, Garden Oaks, Shepherd Park Plaza. which are just outside the northwest side of the 610 loop. These are older established neighborhoods that didn't flood. High school would be Waltrip I think.

I've Been looking at Cy Fair, Klein, Woodlands, Oak ridge north, Tomball etc. I think Kingwood is a little too far and Katy seems a bit too new. I love older neighborhoods with character. Trying to find a safe area that is comparable to Plano seems all over the place with what Ive read. I love how good a lot of the southern schools ratings are but its just way out of my area.

I assume you will be wanting a 2 bedroom apt. which is going to run from $1000 to about $1400 a month maybe more.

Zillow is a pretty good tool to search for apartments..

Good luck...
