abc13.com: Houston Homeowner pulls shotgun on intruder 4/03/08

Unlike Joe Horn, this guy was defending his own property...hence no charges.

Ditto! I have no problem with a person defending his home.

With certain limits.

Am I entitled to put a slug into anyone's head if I think they might be breaking into somebody's car in the Fiesta parking lot?

I agree, that guy was defending his property. What do you want to bet that now the poor guy is going to get sued civilly by the criminal for causing him injuries. Happens quite often.

Now that we have the castle doctrine, we need laws that prevent a person that was committing a crime from suing a person that is defending their property or life.

The more bastards that get shot robbing houses the better. It actually may cut down crime if there's risk involved. Currently Houston is just a candy store.

The rub for Mr. Horn is that the *Castle Doctrine* doesn't address defending other peoples' property.

I rather sympathize with him, but he had no legal protection to do what he did unless they were breaking into his property.

In this new incident, the guy shot the intruder on his property and he is in the clear. This makes a nice little advertisement against breaking into peoples' houses in Texas.
