Currently considering a job offer in the Woodlands area and a potential relocation from DFW with the family. Wife will be working in the Memorial area. We have three kids (1 Highschool and 2 elementary). Looking for recommendations on neighborhoods that have good schools and easy access to both TW and DT. Also I was told about the Woodlands Express that runs between TW and Downtown. Any insights on their service will be appreciated. Thank you!

You're looking at a minimum of 45 minutes to an hour from Woodlands to Memorial area, not including peak traffic time. Why can't your wife get a job in The Woodlands or Memorial and y'all move to either neighborhood?

Oak Forest and Garden Oaks are halfway between them and have good schools but what is your budget? Looking at $800,000+ for a house. Woodlands would be much cheaper to buy a house but killer commute for one of you.

Just went to The Woodlands yesterday to have lunch with a friend. I live in the Soring valley area (not far from memorial city mall). Took me 45 minutes to get there leaving around 10:30. Wouldn’t want to do that everyday during rush hour. You wouldn’t even have the HOV working for you.

If those job locations are fixed, someone’s going to have a bad commmute.

Our home in the Jersey Village area inside the Beltway is convenient for splitting those locations as well as Energy Corridor, downtown and IAH. There are some small beautiful neighborhoods tucked into that area that do not flood, recommended school track is Gleason/Cook/Jersey Village.

Beltway 8 may not be too bad if you don't mind tolls. Parts of the Klein ISD and Cy-Fair school districts might work as in between the two.

Memorial and the Woodlands both have excellent schools if you don't mind one spouse doing all the commute. The Woodlands will be a lot less expensive for the same house.

I would not consider Oak Forest or Garden Oaks to have good schools. I would call them ok elementary schools. Not good high school.
