I'm 21 years old, out of college and I have just started a great job in the Energy Corridor (IT). I currently live at home, however I will be moving within the next 6-8 months.

I would like to live among my "kind"; that’s mid 20s to early 30s and generally conservative, either in good universities or professionally working.

I'd like to rent an apartment at 850-1200 per month, 1 bed room, and the newer the building, the better.

Thanks

Lots of stuff on Eldridge right in the EC. Otherwise you go to Uptown. Streets of Bering, Augusta, Kerry Glen, Fountain view etc.

Well being your age and working in the Energy Corridor puts you more in the burbs with more family lifestyles. Midtown is a great place for young, educated people - however the commute would be awful for you on a daily basis.

Try westchase area, beltway 8 at north of westheimer and south of i-10.

decent places to live on the west side and lots of young perfessionals. Not to bad to drive into midtown on the weekends.

I currently live near Beltway 8 and Wallisville, so I drive past downtown on the way to work on I-10 or I'll take Sam Houston Tollway, either way its a 45min-60min communite from where I am now. So how good is Midtown?

Go buy a small house in Oak Forest or some other transitional neighborhood that's gentrifying. Fix it up if you can, build equity, sell for a profit. You can have parties there, be close to everything and when you decide to settle down, you'll have $$$ for a nice down payment on a real house instead of having pissed 5 years of rent away on an apartment.

Energy corridor is right near Westchase. Stay close to Memorial Drive, but away from Wilcrest. But the hip crowd is around Midtown and Montrose.

You really need to pull up Houston Crime Maps and look at 77079. Your facts are wrong by a couple miles in the area. Lower Dairy Ashford area is the hot spot of trouble in that zip/ Tully Stadium area. Lower Wilcrest is very quiet. The single family neighborhoods have very little going on except car break-ins, which is all over Houston.

PS- I'm not aware of any apartments on Lower Wilcrest. Most are up by Briar Forest and yes I would avoid those. Mattress Mac bought up a few near Kirkwood and redid them though.
