Spring, The Woodlands, Kingwood, or Tomball haven't had any issues with homeless population as far as I've seen. We will make sure our community does not deal with this unlike Katy. We want to keep the value around here!

This comment should go over well.

God speed.

Especially since one of the listed communities, Spring, has a serious homeless problem that's apparently frightening Nervous Nellie housewives away from retail stores. For heavens sakes, ladies, grow a pair.

When I lived in Kingwood a panhandler would occasionally pop up but then quickly disappear. Wish Houston could figure out whatever they do there to deal with the issue. Of course they probably ship them to Houston so Houston cant really follow that model. Maybe give them all free bus tickets to California like they used to back in the day.

I think you are not getting it. Although The Way Home indicates the homeless population in the area is decreasing, the street beggars are on the increase.

Not only do they claim certain corners, many have started panhandling in shopping center parking lots. I have been confronted several times. These women are not docile. One in my part of town carries a lifelike doll.

If you kindly tell them no, some become belligerent and/or hostile. Between that and the holdups at Kroger, etc. some of us old women are gonna start ordering everything online. Or go to shopping centers that are not too cheap to have security.

There are several staked out corners around 290 and 1960/6 that have the same beggars everyday.

You are right, Spring does have a homeless problem but it appears to be around old Spring area close to I-45. I was just thinking western portion of Spring that tends to be very nice areas plus Spring above Grand Parkway are very nice areas.

I go to Kingwood almost weekly since the 90's and I can tell you that I never ever seen a homeless person walking around. I mean NEVER. Maybe it's because it's a heavily forested area that is hard to see around anyway.

Some woods a couple blocks from my subdivision were cut to build a kennel and a fire station. We were surprised to learn homeless were living there. People had been driving past for 20 years and never knew.

Kingwood is in the city. IIRC, the city passed some ordinances so they came out to 1960. Just like the billboards did years ago.

The street corner begging issue exists throughout the suburbs. Of course, beggars do not necessarily equal homeless. So, I probably should have modified my comment since the panhanders at the retail centers on 1960 might not be homeless people.

I assume you mean the Kroger near I-45. I'm sure it can't truly be unsafe. If you don't patronize it, it won't remain open, and there will be another dark box.

1960 @ Eldridge

The Highway 6/1960 overpass is so behind schedule it'll won't be finished in my lifetime. In the meantime, contractors leave equipment for months. Any business on the west bound side of 1960 is barely hanging on. Many are closed.

I learned long ago to shop and spend in my own zip code.

A relative spent a couple days with street beggars due to the job. He said they make more than the laborers in the Depot parking lot.
