Okay, my sister lives off Buffalo Bayou in the Energy Corridor and her neighborhood hasn't been updated on google maps since 2015. Since the whole neighborhood has been rebuilt since Hurricane Harvey, nothing on google maps looks like it should. What's the deal there? My neighborhood in Austin is scanned every couple of years.

I'm wondering if google is waiting until the neighborhoods are recovered even more?

Who cares? Google will get the new pictures taken at some point. It's not like you pay them for the service and can reasonably expect frequent updates. Google maps is a guide, not an up to the minute resource.

I'm sure there is a method to their refreshes, but I haven't figured it out. My street is still from 2015, but one street over (not a major street) was refreshed in 2018 (was 2015 before that).

My whole neighborhood was updated a few months ago, except for the block I live on, because there was a crew cutting down a tree on the block the day the Google maps car was making the rounds. They will avoid almost any obstacle that would pose even the remotest of threats.

It's not a conspiracy. I guess we will just have to wait another couple of years to get a refresh.

Did you got lost without having updated Google map? ...
Some parts are updated, some not, yet.
The world is big, and Houston isn't a center of the Universe.

For some people it might be important.
Street view at my house is a way outdated, around 2015. But now it is 2019! I hate that ugly truck that is in the street view in front of my house. It belonged to the previous homeowner.
This thread inspired me to take an action and report street view. I asked them to update it. Hopefully it will work out eventually.

Same for DFW metro. They are slow and always way behind the curve. Must be a california thing. Makes it significantly worthless here
