77027 is rather high dollar residental and low grade commercial all mixed together. Spanning just east of the Galleria all the way to the back of River Oaks. Honestly I don't know about apartments in that area price wise. Crime maps doesn't show anything bad going on around there except car burglaries, which happens everywhere in a big city. I DO think 700 is going to be too low to get anything in that area or Uptown. 850 and up will get you into a nice aparment complex with a gate and 1 bedroom, just west of there in 77057.

I really don't know much about the apartment scene sorry.

COOL thanks for the info. That Briarwest place is in the 77057 area so that should work out fine. When you move into an apt can you change the locks>? I heard a lot of stories about apt managers just switching the locks on other apartments so that if you walk around with an old key you will find a fit somewhere. I would rather just fork out the $50.00 for a nice lock from Home Depot than get a used lock.

Yeah, more and more apartment complexes are putting in new locks when a resident's lease expires and they don't renew. It really only costs them the price for a new lock and the keys that go with it.

As for 77057, most of it is decent enough but there are some shady complexes mixed in. Most rentals south of Westheimer won't be your ideal location. Things are better (but more expensive) north of Westheimer. All in all, I'd be prepared to spend closer to $800 in that area for a two bedroom place, especially if you want it relatively safe and well-kept.
